Easy Party Appetizer: Cream Cheese and Spicy Jelly Cracker Dip

My in-laws’ party appetizer of choice this past month was so simple but tasty I had to share it. We had it three times in the course of a week, and I still haven’t tired of it. If you are looking for an extra item to serve at your New Year’s Eve party, consider Cream Cheese and Spicy Jelly Cracker Dip.
All you do is unwrap a block of cream cheese, set it on a plate, and pour some pepper jelly on top. Place a little cheese knife alongside it. Arrange another plate with a variety of crackers, and voila! You have cracker and dip combination to gather around during the party for chit-chat.
I don’t know who came up with this dish, but it’s so simple I’m not sure anyone can take the credit.
** For one of our parties, we used two different choices of spicy jelly. Thus, in the picture you will see that a jelly is placed on each side of the cream cheese instead of on top. I liked having two choices that day, and the colors were pretty, but I prefer the look and dip-spreading capabilities of placing the jelly directly on the cheese. With that, the knife only has to make one swoop through the dip before spreading it on your cracker.
It used to be that this kind of jelly could only be found in specialty shops, but now they are easier to locate at grocery stores. Some of them have more kick than others. For a person who doesn’t usually like spicy foods, I found the cream cheese to offset the spice.

- Wheat Thins
- Gluten-free Rice Crackers
We also had a cheddar cheese dip option as well as a pumpkin pie dip option to spread on apple and pear slices.
By the time we got around to dinner, I was pretty full from eating appetizers!
